Synopsis
Jerry and Nibbles celebrate spend the day prepping for 4th of July celebrations, however Jerry strongly disapproves of the latter’s penchant for pyrotechnics, forbidding him from using fireworks and explosives for the occasion. Instead, Jerry proposes the use of noisemakers to celebrate, much to Nibbles’ chagrin.
After scolding Nibbles for lighting up a stick of dynamite, Jerry goes outside to relax, only to find Tom using the very explosives for his own antics as a means of capturing him. Noticing that the literal cat-and-mouse chase is afoot, Nibbles gives Tom a taste of his own medicine to fight back, using fireworks and dynamite to save Jerry. Finally, the two mice work together to defeat Tom at his own game, sending him off into the sky in a massive fireworks display.
The day once again returning to normal, Jerry intends to have some safe fun with Nibbles, who had just stuck another stick of dynamite into the former’s noisemaker cone. Nibbles tries to warn Jerry of the impending danger, but Jerry dissuades him, resulting in his face becoming burned and the cone is blown out, using blackface as a visual gag.
