A project created to help preserve Australia’s Indigenous peoples languages, stories and cultures through the use of 3D animation to record and revive traditional Indigenous stories. The project concluded in 2019 but remains a testament to the potential future of historical preservation and archival techniques.
Hosted during the Red Nation International Film Festival in November, this creative lab pairs Indigenous creators with professionals in the animation field who help them hone their craft and develop series and feature films.

In recognition of Canadian National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, this month’s animation is The Owl and The Lemming. This cartoon, produced by the NFB’s Indian Film Crew, details the Inuit folk story of the owl and lemming using puppetry.
