Synopsis
The Snowman is a Czech experimental short animation about a snowman who is created by a child and soon realizes that the winter weather will someday end and he will be at risk of melting. Looking to find a colder home, the snowman embarks on a journey across the wintery landscape. (“Snehulák”)
Reception:
The short was created by the highly influential Czech animator Hermína Týrlová, who is known for her whimsical style that uses fibers and other household items. (Barker, 1) Sneulák was well received by audiences both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The film also won the Lion of San Marco at the 1966 Venice Film Festival.
