Synopsis

Põrgu/Hell is a 1983 animated horror short directed by Estonian animator Rein Raamat. It depicts a party held by a group of wealthy people that soon dissolves into sex and violence, desire and torment. (Porgu/Hell)

In this short, Raamat adapts engravings made by the artist Eduard Wiiralt to create a chaotic and provocative allegory for instability in Europe during the inter-war period.

Reception:

The film was acclaimed both within Estonia and abroad, winning the Jury Award at the 1985 Annecy International Animated Film Festival. (Tuumalu, 2011)
