Biography


Bartsch spent his entire career at Terrytoons. He started working at the studio in the 1940s, becoming a director in 1958. Throughout his career he worked on numerous animations starring studio’s most celebrated characters: Sydney the Elephant, Sad Cat, Stanley the Lion, and Cleo the Giraffe, among others.

Career outline


He began as a background artist in the 1940’s and was elevated to director in 1958. He was asked to direct a new cartoon Sidney the Elephant. In 1960 he worked on the first Sidney the Elephant cartoon to be filmed in CinemaScope titled Hide and Go Sidney.
